At your initial osteopathy consultation we will take a detailed medical case history of your problem to gather all the necessary information to help us formulate a diagnosis and treatment plan. Following this, we will conduct a gentle examination of your movements, joints and muscles and at times conduct a few painless tests similar to that of your GP, these may include blood pressure, pulse, weight, muscle testing, abdominal exam or neurological testing.
At times, with your consent, it is necessary to consult with another medical professional also involved in your care, for example your GP for further tests or results. It is usual to conduct some gentle treatment at your first appointment to kickstart your road to recovery. Your osteopath will keep you fully informed at all times regarding your treatment and care in addition to providing you a plain English explanation of your problem, symptoms and care plan

The recommendation is to follow a reducing programme of maintenance care to avoid regression and maximise long term improvements.
Please be advised that depending upon your indiv dual levels of tissue change within your spine, noted as the above types and highlighted by your MRI results it is necessary to commit to a course of IDD Spinal Therapy. The nature of your changes be it mild, moderate or severe will be fully and openly explained to you. We do not advocate individual therapy sessions until you have completed a full course. Some of our clients benefit from periodic maintenance sessions to maintain optimum improvements
A course of therapy is necessary to facilitate positive adaptations and long-term change within the tissues of the spine, which cannot be achieved through one or two sessions in isolation. We are as motivated as you to get you out of pain, however, we aim to reduce and resolve the causes that lead to your pain in the first place, preven ing, wherever possible, relapse or regression. We also advocate planning your sessions on the basis of 2 sessions per week for the first 4-6 weeks to maximize adaptations and consistency.

A clinical report on findings consultation providing and overview a medical referral, outlining the patient's condition, observations made and any recommendations or planned actions. It serves as a record and simple “no jargon” evaluation of the report, aiding in continuity of care, diagnosis and treatment planning

Private medical insurance often helps make our services more accessible and affordable for eligible patients by covering a range of clinical treatments. Many UK private health insurers include osteopathy, medical ultrasound and acupuncture within their outpatient or complementary therapy benefits, although the exact level of cover will depend on your individual policy and provider. Patients are strongly advised to check the terms of their plan in advance, including any requirements for GP or consultant referral, policy limits, excesses and whether the practitioner needs to be registered with a recognised professional body. We are happy to provide invoices and any supporting documentation needed to help you make a claim and clarify how your insurance can be used towards your treatment
To ensure we can offer appointments to all patients in a timely manner, all bookings are subject to a full appointment fee if you do not attend or cancel with less than 48 hours’ notice. Cancellations made more than 48 hours before your appointment will not incur any charge. We understand that unexpected situations can arise, and will always give due consideration to genuine extenuating circumstances, such as serious illness, emergency hospitalisation or family bereavement.
All our sessions are scheduled as 40-minute appointments, giving enough time for assessment, hands-on treatment and advice without feeling rushed. This duration allows us to focus on your specific needs, deliver effective, evidence-based care and still provide space for relaxation and questions. We find that 40 minutes offers an ideal balance between thorough clinical input and convenience, helping you fit treatment into your day while still receiving high-quality, personalised attention.
